Media Center

The Mission of the Valdosta City School Media Centers is to provide materials and services to students and staff that support and enhance the implementation of the curriculum. The media center provides areas for reading, learning labs, and work centers for the entire school. The media center is also home to a diverse selection of fiction and nonfiction books available for checkout. The Media Centers hours are 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM, Monday through Friday.

The long-range goals for the media center include: 1) increase awareness and visibility of the media program, 2) increase circulation, and 3) update the collection.

One of the Media Center's main day-to-day functions is circulation of media center materials. The books are cataloged through the Destiny Library Management system, a web-based electronic catalog. Students can search the collection by author, title, and/or keyword as well as access reviewed websites by using the link below.

The media center staff consisting of Ms. Bennett and Mrs. Jackson are responsible for the lamination of materials for all VHS teachers and staff. Lamination of materials will be done on Tuesday and Thursday of each week, however, materials may be brought in on any day of the week and will be stored in the Media Center until it is laminated.
The Media Center also has ebooks (electronic books) available for check out. Students interested in checking out an ebook should see Ms. Bennett or Mrs. Jackson for more information.

The VHS Media Center is participating in the FundingFactory® Recycling Program! This fundraiser is FREE and simple because there’s nothing to sell, no paperwork to fill out and no deadline. The program runs year-round, accumulating constant income for our efforts. But we won’t get very far without your support. To participate teachers, parents, and students can bring their empty printer and toner cartridges to the media center, which will then send them to the FundingFactory and receive monetary compensation that will be used to fund media center projects and/or materials. Please donate your empty printer cartridges to the media center, and we’ll take it from there!
