Dear Parent/Guardian,


Valdosta High School, students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement as well as describes how school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards.


To understand how working together can benefit your student, it is first important to understand our district’s and school’s goals for student academic achievement.  Please review these goals and the attached compact.


Valdosta City Schools Goals:

  • Increase Literacy Achievement for all students K-12
  • Increase Numeracy Achievement for all students K-12
  • Improve school culture and climate in all district schools
  • Establish Professional Learning Communities Districtwide

Valdosta High School Parent Involvement Goals for 2016-17:

  1. Valdosta High School (VHS) will improve academic achievement to meet identified targets.80% of 9th grade lit students within or above Lexile band.80% of American Lit students within or above Lexile band.
  2. VHS will increase the four-year graduation rate average from TBA to 82.4%.

The School-Parent Compact will be discussed with you throughout the year at different school-family events as we work together to help your student succeed in school. We are excited to partner with you to prepare students to pursue infinite possibilities for their academic successes!
