FAFSA Friday  (NEW DATE!!)
              December 8th- VHS Parents can get help to complete the FAFSA (Financial Aid
              Application). FAFSA determines your student's eligibility for need based federal
              financial aid for college. This is a FREE service offered by Angie Wilson with
              Georgia Student Finance to assist parents in completing the FAFSA.
              Spots will fill up fast. Please call the counseling office to schedule an apt time
              and get a list of items to bring.

Cap & Gown Ordering
               November 29th- Herff Jones will be back at VHS for Cap/Gown ordering during all
               lunches. Cap & Gown is just $45 if that is all that you order (that price includes tax
               & shipping). All other senior materials have their prices listed in the order form.
               Order forms are available in the school counseling office.
Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar
                Deadline Nov 3, 2017  -This is a summer leadership program for current 10th graders.
                VHS counseling dept chooses ONE sophomore a year to sponsor. The Georgia
                Southeast program will be at Georgia College June 8-10th! All you have to do is
                provide your own transportation. Applications are available with Mrs. Shiver in the
                counseling office.
PROBE College Fair & College/Career Info Night
                 October 27, 6pm: Information for parents about transcripts, SAT/ACT, and other
                 important senior year information. 6:30-8pm: PROBE College Fair in the VHS Gym.
                 Almost 60 colleges have registered to attend. Seniors & parents are encouraged to
                 attend. All grade levels are invited!
Lowndes Youth Leadership Applications
                Deadline Oct 19, 2017 - For current 10th and 11th Grades
                Apply online:
                Given Oct 11, 2017 - All 10th graders (class of 2020) will be given the PSAT for FREE. 
                11th graders may want to take the NMSQT /PSAT to try qualifying for National Merit
                Scholarships. Any 9th grader or 11th grader wishing to take it needs to sign
                up with Mrs. Shiver, counseling secretary, by this Friday, Sept. 22nd. The cost is $15.
